The people who know me best say my most outstanding qualities are my compassion, energy, and open-mindedness. These traits and a depth of knowledge fueled by a passion for birth, holistic healthcare, and women's rights are what I bring to my work as a doula.
I have had an interest in birth for many years and was finally trained as a doula in 2013 with midwife, Beth Goldberg, through Birth Arts International.
Whenever I explain my role as a doula, I refer back to a description that I thinks sums it up perfectly, "A doula is basically a best friend who is very well educated in matters birth." I serve as a resource for all my birthing friends -- one that they can use to begin to explore the different options available to them as mommas-to-be; an unwavering hand to hold and encouraging voice or presence in the room when things start moving.
I firmly believe that each woman needs her own array of support and care techniques during pregnancy and in labor because each experience is unique. In my work I celebrate this uniqueness and accept all possibilities, colors, paths, intuitions and dreams of birth that a mother or partner may feel.
My background of care and well-being is spread across the spectrum of allopathic and traditional medicine. I am a yoga teacher and through yoga have a deep interest in mindfulness. I also study herbal and food therapies. I also have a strong background in the hard sciences. I have worked in several western medicine facilities as a medical assistant, and am currently pursuing a degree in Nursing. I believe that integrative medicine (the blending of traditional and modern medicine) is the most well-rounded approach to healing. I also believe that every individual will need a different recipe or ratio of traditional and modern 'medicines' or practices to nurture their ideal healthy self.
My mission breaks down my role: aiding in the realization of vision, voice and voyage. Leading up to and during your pregnancy you have time to prepare for the arrival of your child. Part of that preparation is also for the birth itself. Together we will discuss and formulate a group understanding of
Throughout your pregnancy and birth I will support you fully in the decisions you will make about the type of birth you want because only you can fully understand what your body, mind and heart need and ask of you.

- what kind of birth experience you want -- your vision
- how you plan to communicate your vision with family and caregivers -- your voice
- what will you need from family and caregivers so that we can support you fully throughout your voyage
Throughout your pregnancy and birth I will support you fully in the decisions you will make about the type of birth you want because only you can fully understand what your body, mind and heart need and ask of you.
